new_mexico_gov_bill-richardsonAs readers know, we here at the Hipster Travel Guide are big fans of Cuba.

So close, yet so far. Familiar in name yet mysterious in nature. The camel-shaped buses! The old American cars! The mojitos!

And now comes another reason to love Cuba: Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico — you know, that dude who ran against Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination back in ’08 — says he’s into the idea of the U.S. being more friendly with our Caribbean neighbor to the south.

In addition to seeking more economic activity between the yanks and island-bound commies, Richardson says Americans should have more access to Cuba in return for Cuba allowing its citizens more freedom to travel.

And for that, Gov. Richardson, we say gracias. Somebody get this man a job under — errrr — working for Secretary of State Clinton.
