Cuba could open to Americans soon
It’s about time.
The only Caribbean nation closed to U.S. travelers (legally that is) may soon open up, according to the Miami Herald.
For many who have gone to Cuba, save Micheal Moore, who floated up to the island nation, a trip required border jumping to Canada or Mexico — there are regular flights to Cuba from either nation.
But now, bills in the U.S. House and Senate are gaining momentum to move forward and let Americans travel to Cuba. A complete ban was lifted earlier this year allowing family members to fly to Cuba. But now, the U.S. is seriously considering letting everyone go.
Right now, if you admit to going to Cuba, you face a $10,000 fine, a stern lecture and Homeland Security tisking you for 15 minutes. Of course, you
have to admit it. When you go to Cuba, the government there will not stamp your passport (they give you a little piece of paper that you keep in your passport) and no one will know. Soon, even that won’t be necessary, and you’ll be able to proudly show off your passport stamp to all of your friends.
