It’s OK to go green, as long as it is in the bathroom BEFORE the flight, according to one airline.
All Nippon Airways has started to ask passengers to dump their digestive loads before boarding to help the airline be greener, according to the news agency AFP. The airline figures that’s just a less wait to carry, and the bonus is fewer people standing up, rubbing their butts up against fellow passengers. The company estimates it could save 4.2 metric tons a month if half of its passengers would drop a few pounds before flying.
The airline has instituted a number of policies to become a greener company. It has made its in-flight magazines smaller, trimmed the handles of the knives and forks to make the weigh less, lightened up the trolley carts, and will now only use chop sticks made from sustainable forests.
All of the greenie mumbo jumbo will score points with travelers, but it will also set new goals for other airlines. Expect more to follow.
