The media giants are at it again.
They can’t run a newspaper to save their lives, so they’re now trying to buy up TV stuff.
According to the NY Times, Cox Communications’ bid on for the Travel Channel will near $1
billion. Of course, News Corp is in on the action, as is Scripps Network.
It appears the media empires now have egos nearly as big as Anthony Bourdain, the
hipster douchie chef who doesn’t make reservations and has the No. 1 show on the Travel Channel.
In fact, most of the popular shows are more food related than travel oriented. There’s Man vrs. Food, the No. 2 show, where another dolt travels around the country and eats giant hamburgers and spicey food.
Then there’s Bizzare Foods, where Andrew Zimmern eats all of the left overs from the original Iron Chef show.
Sometimes, the channel even mentions traveling.
