Now striking workers, who are upset over the government’s desire to downsize museum staffs around the country, are blocking the cash register instead of the entrance doors allow people to visit many of the museums free.

For the past week, dozens of France’s museums have been closed because of the strike. Big draws such as the Louvre, Orsay and others have had to close their doors. But now, strikers have allowed many of the museums to reopen.
