It was a partnership made for bad puns.
But there’s nothing bad with this deal. Virgin America and Hilton Worldwide announced a partnership Monday that will enable people to earn miles on the ground and spend them in the air.
Really, this makes sense, as most travelers (people who ride on airplanes) eventually need a place to stay once they get to where they’re going. The fact you can now get miles for a hotel room makes the trip that much more enjoyable. What American doesn’t like free stuff?
The partnership means that travelers can earn points in one spot and they can move them to another. Stay in one of 3,400 of Hilton’s properites and you can get miles on Virgin America. Fly to your heart’s content on Virgin and earn points for hotel stays.
“We’re pleased to partner with another world-class travel company to give our loyal Elevate members one more reason to fly with us – and to offer an outstanding travel experience from the moment they take off through their stay at any hotel that participates in Hilton
HHonors,” said Porter Gale, Vice President of Marketing at Virgin America. “The breadth of brands, distribution of hotels and various price points that Hilton HHonors offers makes it even easier to earn points wherever your travels take you.”
“Hilton Worldwide is always looking for new and compelling ways to reward our Hilton HHonors members,” said Jeff Diskin, Senior Vice President, Global Customer Marketing, Hilton Worldwide. “By partnering with on
e of the most innovative airlines in the U.S., we’re offering members a new way to explore the country in style.”
Now if you want to join Virgin America’s frequent flier program, known as Elevate, go here.
If you want to joint Hilton’s HHonors program, go here.
Remember, it does take some figuring out what you’ll use most and how the program best serves your needs, but it’s a no brainer either way. Paris Hilton, no doubt an HHonors member, could even figure this one out.
