Virgin America becomes Hulu of the sky

-1Virgin America announced last week another way to avoid talking to the person next to you on the air plane. Unlimited television. (And if you do want to talk to someone on the plane, they don’t even have to be sitting next to you as VA offers seat-to-seat instant messaging.)

Live TV, recorded TV, 25 plus films and more basic cable than you can watch at home (including the CW show Fly Girls, based upon the airline), Virgin America wants its passengers fully engrossed in all things television. The list of channels is pretty impressive  as well, including:

BRAVO -2
CBS (WCBS-TV/New York)
CNBC
CNN
Comedy Central
The CW (KTLA-TV/Los Angeles)
CURRENT TV
DISNEY
E!
ESPN
ESPN 2
ESPN Classic
-3
ESPN News
FOX
FX
MSNBC
MTV
NICKELODEON
Syfy
TNT
USA
WGN America

However, like a late night info-mercial: But wait, there’s more.

There are more than 3,000 songs to listen to, you can digitally order your food, play video games like Doom and shop for family and friends online. Google Maps has also created a program to allow you follow the plan as it crosses the country.

Really, there’s no reason to even exit the plane once you land, especially if you’re just going to go to your hotel and, well, watch some TV.

And if all else fails, there’s always a slew of Virgin commercials, which the king of traveling hipsters, Sir Richard Branson, has approved.
