Reality meets the movies with Harry Potter tours

More than a few hipsters are closet Harry Potter fans. J.K. Rowling can weave a good tale.harry-potter-6-posters

The premiere this week of the Harry Potter and the Half  Blood Prince could spark more muggles mucking about attempting to connect reality with a movie.

The British tour company Lynott Tours Inc. has created a Harry Potter package in the U.K. The six-day guided tour costs between $1,556 and $1,749 and doesn’t include airfare (or someone picking you up at the airport). Stops include King’s Cross station where you can see Platform 9 3/4 (the place where Harry catches an imaginary train to start his journey to Wonder Land.)

Other fictional/historical stops include: The London Zoo (where Harry first fought Capt. Hook), the Gloucester Cathedral (where Harry first kisses Snow White), the village of Lacock (where Harry and his red headed step brother Malachi sacrifice visitors in a giant corn field) and Christ Church College in Oxford (where Harry didn’t go to school but film makers did shoot many scenes).

Hey if a book can inspire a movie that inspires someone to get off their duff, we’re all for it, though the price seems a bit excessive for a tour around a number of public places. Most hipsters know they can go to a train station for nothing.

Of course, if Harry Potter is not your cup of tea, you can always go on the Da Vinci Code tour in Paris.
