Why some soda tastes like shit

Take a big gulp and call the Dr. because that's not pepper floating atop those fizzy bubbles, new study finds

When you’re on the open road, at an airport or even just taking a break at work, you might be tempted to grab a cup and fill it up with ice and a some carbonated refreshment. But only the ice should float. Next time, think before you drink.

A new study by Hollins University found that nearly half of all soda fountain machines tested in Virginia left fecal matter in the cup. There was, also, nicely chilled E. Coli swimming around between the fizzy bubbles.

According to CNN News, Renee Godard, the lead author of the study and Hollins professor who must wash her hands every 3 minutes, said “Certainly we come in contact with bacteria all the time. It’s simply that some bacteria may potentially cause some disease or gastrointestinal distress. One thing we hesitate with is that people get afraid of bacteria. Many of them are benign or helpful, but certainly, I don’t want E.coli in my beverage.”

No, nobody wants to sip on E.cocca-coli or Mountain Poo, both names soda makers have not ever used.

Canned and bottle beverages may be the way to go in the future.
