Continental Airlines sent out this release a few minutes ago: Cleveland’s Hopkins International Airport is at standstill due to a power outage.

All Continental flights have been delayed until at least 6 p.m. tonight.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, a fire broke out and burned up a transformer earlier this morning, burned for a little while, then blew up. (Some parts of the airport do have power, some parts don’t.)

Passengers flying through this particular mistake by the lake can reschedule their flights without any penalty, Continental said this morning.

“Customers scheduled on flights to, from or through Continental’s hub at Cleveland on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 are permitted a one-time date or time change to their itinerary without penalty,” according to a news release. “If a flight has been canceled, a refund in the original form of payment may be requested. Complete details are available at continental.com.”

Passengers canalso call Continental Airlines reservations at 800-525-0280.
