Haiti: Flights canceled, help on its way
Most major airlines in the U.S. canceled their flights to the little Caribbean island that endured a 7.0
earthquake. Hundreds of thousands of people lives are now considered seriously at risk.
Many of the airlines have replaced passengers with food, water and emergency supplies as the humanitarian efforts begin to organize.
According to Reuters, American Airlines flew three flights on Wednesday to Hati, each plane filled with 10,000 pounds of goods for hospitals and about 100 employees.
Other airlines, such as Continental Airlines, have offered to transport relief and rescue workers to Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, even if they don’t have regularly scheduled flights to the region.
Meanwhile, the airport is being run by the U.S. military and news organizations are flocking to the region to find the most horrible story to shock viewers into higher ratings.
