Need a friend? There’s an app for that.

Check in for a flight? Southwest Airlines does have an app for that.

The new app means you no longer need to be near a computer 24 hours before your Southwest flight — just wait for the “ding” and then start up the app, it’ll take care of the rest.

There’s nothing worse than knowing you have a flight taking off tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. and being stuck in place where you’re surrounded by computers but unable to do anything about it.

Of course, there’s more with this particular piece of computer programing. The app can provide you with an instant alert for special deals, book a flight for you, help you rent a car and let you check the status of any Southwest flight.
