When Boeing began testing the 787 Dreamliner a few months ago, it just wanted to make sure it could fly. So they started flying big loops around Seattle.
Then Boeing wanted to see if the lightweight plane made from composite could be duplicated — so it built another one and took that one off too.
Now, it has started testing the interior as well — and offered up the first look of the actual interior. This particular package includes 135 seats, lavatories and two crew rest areas. While it may not be quite as nice as the artistic versions we first saw — but still, pretty nice.
“This airplane is specifically configured to test the passenger experience elements of the airplane,” said Tom Galantowicz, director of 787 Interiors, Commercial Airplanes. “Our engineers and flight-test team use a disciplined process to certify the various elements of the interior and conduct airplane-level verifications.”
The first Dreamliner is scheduled to be sold later this year.
