It’s the trend we named a website around and now Gawker.com has set its sites on renaming Hipsters.
The New York City based group of, well, hipsters, has grown sick of the title of the Gen. Y entitled — so now it’s bringing a new name to a vote.
Here are the top finalist names and how Gawker named the five finalists:
Doucheoisie
Plus: Was the most popular option, winning 25% of the vote. Sounds pretty.
Minus: Does it really describe hipsters, in particular?
Fauxhemians
Plus: Really rolls off the tongue (sexxxily).
Minus: Is it mean enough?
Pabstsmears
Plus: Cleverly references PBR.
Minus: Takes extraordinarily exact pronunciation to distinguish it from a more all-purpose slur.
Probos (professional hobos)
Plus: Pithy; easy to say; might actually catch on.
Minus: What percentage of hipsters are professionals?
Trendsluts
Plus: Deliciously zingy.
Minus: Might offend sluts.
To vote for your final answer, go to Gawker and take a click with your pick. The Hipster is dead, long live the Hipster.
