Editor’s Note: No links were provide to Spirit Airlines because we now hate them.
Dear Spirit (or shall we call you Mr. Airlines),
We are not lollipops, hard candy or any other form of sucker.
We are not particularly organized either. So we dont’ have to time to join your $9 club because we already have a head full of url’s and passwords we can’t remember.
While we’re always in favor of $9 flight from Detroit to DC, we believe your new policy to charge people up to $45 to use the overhead bin on a flight is frivolous, mean Spirited and simply outrageous.
Now like any responsible traveler, we know how to travel light. In fact, when we went to Costa Rica a few years ago for 8 days, we didn’t need to check a bag. We fit everything we needed nicely into a regulation sized carry on bag. We don’t even mind putting our computer bag under the seat in front of us — though on Mean Spirit Airlines, we have noticed that the lack of legroom before our bag was there prevented us from sitting comfortably. Honestly, your seats suck.
The new carry-on fee is just wrong. It violates that fading trust between passenger and airline. It tips the scales to the point that your outright greed is disgusting for us to even look at. It’s a violation of the American god given right to pay a decent ticket price and expect a decent service.
We’ve lived with Spirit nickel and diming us for soda, sandwiches and a Pringle’s can half full of broken chips. We’ve even dealt with the rude service and awful website. But we have stood by you because every now and then, we could pay $30 and hop a flight to Vegas.
No more. Never again. Either drop the baggage fee or we will never fly your airline again.
See: We carry our bags onto flights because we have so little faith in your baggage handlers. We may get a cheap flight to Ft. Lauderdale, but our bags end up in LA.
Even more so, Carry On is a lifestyle choice, not a way to save a few dollars for checking something. We don’t like hanging out at turn styles, watching someone else’s bag spin endlessly as we wait for ours. So when Carry On passengers hop off a flight, we don’t waste another hour waiting for a bag to not show up. We simply walk out of the airport and begin our journey.
To expect us to pay at the gate is simply wrong. What if we don’t have a credit card? (Or at least we tell you we don’t.)
We wish you the best in all of your future endeavours, but we thought you should know, as long as you discriminate against travelers who pack light — we will not fly with you, we will encourage other people not to travel with you and secretly pray you go bankrupt.
There is more than one way to travel — and the new Spirit policy is one way we will not include on any future trip.
Greece Holidays - Greece holidays are always popular and when you go, you will see why.
