Evil Spirit Air. Yes, they’re still Evil. And now they’re in a league of their own.
Sunday, five major US airlines committed to not apply the carry on baggage charge to their customers. American Airlines, Jet Blue, Delta, US Air and United have all committed to Senator Chuck Schumer D-NY that they will not charge customers to lug their own bags on the planes. Schumer, who has railed against these fees, received the calls from top executives from the airlines.
This news is amazing. In the world of airline travel, fees are the way the airlines make money without paying any taxes. For these five airlines to commit to giving up the free money is… well, it leaves us speechless.
Of course, at any time they could change their mind. We think once Schumer and his Senate cronies can figure out how to tax a fee, he won’t be such an advocate of not charging fees which in turn will allow other major airlines to quietly charge the same fees to their customers.
It all remains to be seen.
