Oil is filling up the Gulf of Mexico, an SUV filled with fireworks fizzled in the middle of Time Square and between those two events, Nashville filled up with the Mississippi.
So instead of whining about it, the Daily Getaway program — a 30 day program that was designed to inspire people getting out of their house.
On Monday, the Getaway was a trip to the Country Music Awards in Nashville which people
bid on. Now, American Express, the chief sponsor of the site, is taking the bid, matching it and giving all of the money to the Red Cross Nashville.
Those may not be Taylor Swift kind of numbers (the teen country star donated $500,000).
“During this time of need, American Express is proud to make a contribution to help the people of Nashville and support the local relief efforts,” said Shane Berry, senior vice president and general manager, American Express Merchant Services.
According to Daily Getaway, the Nashville trip included:
- Roundtrip airfare for two on Southwest Airlines;
- Airport limo service;
- Five days/four nights in Renaissance Nashville Hotel concierge level suite;
- Two VIP tickets to the Country Music Association’s 44th Annual CMA Awards Show broadcast sitting where the stars sit;
- Two tickets to the pre-telecast Awards Show reception;
- Hair/manicure/makeup/pedicure for two on CMA show day;
