Drag us away, deals of the week

We love the New York Daily News. Especially the Sunday edition, which offers up its deals of the week.

This week, the paper offers up a few great deals to consider (hey, when it comes to travel ideas, we’ll take suggestions from just about anyone):

(Good idea) Philly: A few days in the city of botherly love just might make you a Giants fan. But there are more than a few things to do  and a great bar scene down by the docks. Hotels are cheap too.

(Bad Idea) Walt Disney: Why anyone would got to Orlando during the summer is beyond us, but if you’re going there before Labor Day, you can get rooms for $99 a night.

(Awesome idea) New Orleans: From Sept. 2 to the 7th, New Orleans is so gay. It’s called imagesSouthern Decadance and many consider it the gay Mardi Gras — which means fewer rednecks and lots more topless men. Really, New Orleans was made for this event: Drunken drag queens, buff pool boys and men just enjoying the company of men. Who could ask for more?

(Great idea) Puerto Rico: Right now, there are deals galore coming out of this little island. The Hilton Ponce Golf and Casino has rooms available for a mere $124 a night — with specials added on to that depending upon how long you stay. Sure, a hurricane may blow through, but just makes it a little dangerous — and better yet — you could have to stay a day or two extra.

Catskills: This is only if you’re a New Yorker and actually know where these hills even are. It’s like saying, “I love the Poconos.” For people outside of the city, the Catskills are to NY as Naples is to Floridians, the UP is to Michiganders and Palm Beach  is to people in LA. It’s where you go when you don’t really have to time to make a plan.
