There’s a reason they call it Memorial Day weekend.
Today, Dennis Hopper — a motorcycling, pill popping, acting, directing, man about town — died after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 74 and 11 days old. Here’s the MTV obit.
Yesterday, Gary Coleman died.
Tomorrow? It’s anyone’s ballgame. But they do die in threes.
Hopper is legendary for his erratic and wild behavior. It’s much nicer to be remembered for that than, “oh yeah, that dude.”
From Easy Rider (1969) to Blue Velvet (1984) to Apocalypse Now (our personal favorite favorite crazy-yeah-yeah-yeah-I’ll-have-another-hit-of-that-crank photojournalist Hopper played).
For those who played Hopper in their Dead Pool — he is worth 26 points.
And this is the real reason any self-loathing hipster should love hopper — PBR.
