It’s difficult to keep up with all of the holidays nowadays.
For the outdoorsy types, today is National Trails Day, according to the American Hiking Society.
That doesn’t mean today’s the only time to get out on a trail and enjoy Mother Nature, but it’s just as good as any other.
And if you need a little help figuring out where to go, check out the American Hiking Society’s ultra cool trail map on its home page. It’s pretty easy to use, just click on the state you want to hike and them follow the links from there. Very cool.
Now, if you’re feeling industrious, you can also join a local trail group and go out and help build or repair a trail — which mighty tough, but rewarding work.
So turn off the TV, put away your lawn implements and go for a great walk. Just don’t forget your flask and pack of cigarettes — Mother Nature never goes down smoother with a smokey treat and slug of Bushmills.
