Hurry up and wait — right in front of me

Why do we travel? To have fun. (well, sometimes for work and don’t get me started on family visits!)

Then why do people make it such a task?

I was people watching at the airport on my last trip and the way some people go about traveling looks exhausting. I don’t know if they understand life could be easier if they weren’t trying so hard.

Below are the thoughts of the lady in the white shirt with the blue bag. I think these are the thoughts of everyone who stand and wait at the jetway waiting for that golden moment to rush to doorway, boarding pass in hand, bags in tow.

I think she could have had just as much of a chance boarding first in her zone if everyone would just chill out and quit hovering around the jet way doors. It’s not a race, there is no prize waiting for you on the plane. Seriously, all you’re doing is waiting to get in line to scan your boarding pass to wait in the gangplank to the airplane to wait in the plane’s aisle. Take a chill.

11:01 AM. I'm going to stand right here, next to the jetway so I can be first in my zone to board and stow both my bags in the overhead, I don't care what they say, that's the way I roll.

11:05 AM Hmmmm... they're still preboarding. If I stand here, and glare at them, maybe they'll call my zone faster. This bag is getting heavy. Why did I pack the 10lb Shake Weight?

11:12 AM Oh, COME ON! Why can't this line go faster? I've been standing here forEVER. So many people... How many people are on this plane? CALL MY FREAKIN' ZONE!

11:20 AM. About freakin' time. 20 minutes feels like I coulda walked there already. So many people in my way. Move outta my way. I'm first in Zone Wha? There's a line in the jet way...
