A smorgasbord of love: Sweden’s royal wedding takes place today

Ahh, love is in the air and the Swedish royal family seems to be doing just about every thing to muck it up.

Crown Princess Victoria plans to tie the knot today with Clark Kent Look-a-Like Daniel Westling in the first royal wedding since some prince in Denmark married some French girl in 2008.

But no one is likely to see the wedding outside of Sweden, according to the Associated Press, which is boycotting it. In fact, just about every major news organization says it’s skipping the wedding because media restrictions placed on the wedding. Apparently, Sweden has provided exclusive rights to the Swedish national television. All others have to abide by those rules, which in media parlance, pisses them off. (Though it doesn’t anger the AP when Hollywood royalty excludes it from publishing photos until a certain time, so pardon our lack of first amendment right violations in this case. The press does have a right to be a hypocrite and we have a right to think they’re douches.)

All of that over shadows the fact that CP Victoria, 32, will wed her former personal trainer and, now, no one will get to see because the media has become Bridezilla.

In another twist to the date, Victoria’s parents, the king and queen, were married on exactly the same date — June 19 — 37 years ago.

We’ve decided sharing an anniversary with your parents, is, well, kind of creepy.
