There is only one place to obtain a passport: The U.S. State Department.

Now you could go to a passport service, but that’s only good to do if you want to spend extra money. (There are lots of passport “agencies” but they were created to do exactly what you would do, but will charge you extra cash. Save the greenbacks and spend them at a Coffeeshop in Amsterdam.)

So if the website you go to does not end in .gov — you’re about to spend more than you need to.

The easiest way to get your passport is by mail.

However, you can also apply in person at one of the official U.S. Passport Agency offices.
